NSG Environmental Achieve ‘Preferred Supplier’ Status for Major Decommissioning and Demolition Project at LLW Repository Ltd

NSG Environmental Ltd are delighted to announce that following a comprehensive, competitive tendering process, we have reached ‘Preferred Supplier Status’ for the provision of Decommissioning and Demolition Work at the LLW Repository Site in Drigg. This project is expected to encompass all of the site’s nuclear decommissioning requirements, including the decontamination and demolition of a number of legacy site facilities, with a programme duration of up to 8 years.

The tender process for this opportunity began in mid 2012 with the support of our specialist subcontract partners Areva RMC, KDC Contractors and RPS, together with key supply chain partners including Romar and Speedy Hire Services. As we move forward into delivery with the team at LLWR, we plan to engage members of the local supply chain and draw upon the expertise within West Cumbria to further strengthen our team. We will also recruit additional personnel from the local labour pool to support with the delivery of works, offering new opportunities together with support in skills development and the achievement of career aspirations.

NSG initially gained a presence on site at the LLW Repository in 2011, when we were successful in being awarded a contract to decommission a facility extract ventilation system. We were able to secure that contract by providing an innovative approach to the decommissioning strategy, which was based on experience gained from similar operations at AWE, Aldermaston. Throughout the delivery of this contract we have worked collaboratively with both the LLWR project team and our key subcontract partner Areva RMC and have built successful working relationships that will bring benefit to the delivery of Decommissioning and Demolition Work as we move forward with the programme.

John Morris, NSG’s Managing Director, said, ‘This is a major achievement for NSG and a key milestone in our journey to become the nuclear industry’s preferred partner. The success we have experienced can only be attributed to the way in which we work collaboratively, both internally and with our industry partners. We are confident that by continuing with this approach we will deliver this challenging programme of work safely and efficiently, whilst bringing benefit to the West  Cumbrian Community.’
