PRONTO RUGBY & NSG: TACKLING CHALLENGES ON AND OFF THE FIELD IN PHUKET 2025 June 24th 2025 < back to all news Author: Luke Unsworth This year’s Phuket International Rugby 11s Tournament in Thailand once again showcased the perfect blend of fierce competition and heartfelt community impact, thanks to the unwavering support of NSG.For the second consecutive year, NSG proudly sponsored Pronto Rugby, a team that’s about much more than the game. Founded on the pillars of passion, challenge, collaboration, and integrity, Pronto Rugby is as committed to charitable work as they are to winning trophies. Rugby with a Cause Far Beyond the Final Whistle At the heart of Pronto’s mission is raising awareness and vital funds for autism and mental health charities. The 2025 tour was no exception. Team members David Mott, Joseph Collin, and Peter Batley led the charge in Phuket, not only competing on the pitch but also taking time to make a meaningful difference in the local community. A standout moment of the tour was the squad’s visit to Panyanukul School, which supports 290 Special Educational Needs (SEN) children who live away from their families for extended periods. These visits are deeply personal for the team. They provide an opportunity to engage with the pupils through storytelling, interactive rugby drills, and most importantly, to deliver much-needed supplies. This year’s donations included 14 bug zappers, 300 items of clothing, and an assortment of stationery and games, all requested by the school. Fundraising Triumph Beyond the school visit, the tour proved to be a fundraising success. £2,054.93 was raised during the event, with the funds being split between two impactful charities: Dogs for Autism, an organisation that trains assistance dogs for individuals on the autism spectrum, and The SpeedoMick Foundation, which focuses on tackling homelessness and mental health challenges. Victory on the Field The action on the rugby pitch was just as impressive. With 42 teams from across the globe competing in Men’s Open, Men’s Vets, and Women’s categories, the tournament was a showcase of high-calibre rugby. Pronto Rugby made their mark yet again, with both their Open Age and Veterans teams advancing deep into the competition. The Open Age team successfully defended their Plate Trophy, while the Veterans squad claimed a thrilling victory over a Dubai-based team of former professionals to lift the Veterans Trophy. Remarkably, all three NSG-backed players participated across both squads throughout the three-day event, embodying the team’s spirit of dedication and versatility. More Than Just a Game At its core, the Phuket tour was a celebration of everything Pronto Rugby stands for—combining the love of sport with meaningful social impact. It was about playing with passion, embracing challenges, working together as colleagues, and showing integrity by giving back to those who need it most. The Pronto Rugby team sent thanks to NSG saying “We are incredibly grateful for NSG’s continued support. This partnership allows us to keep pushing boundaries on the field while making a real difference off it.” Phuket 2025 wasn’t just a tournament, it was a testament to the power of sport to change lives. < back to all news
