Long-serving and dedicated members of the team, Jim, Andy, Mark, Gráinne and Gareth have spearheaded a long and continued period of growth and success for the company. Jim PorterManaging DirectorJim has been with us for over 30 years and has played a key role in the development of the company. Prior to his appointment as Managing Director in 2016, Jim was responsible for our former Science and Technology division, overseeing the development of the company’s technical and R&D capability. A University of Birmingham Chemistry graduate, Jim spent the early years of his career with British Nuclear Fuels. Jim loves attending football matches and walking his dog in his spare time. Andy DeallOperations DirectorAndy joined us in the role of Programme Manager in 2011 and became Operations Director in 2022 after stints as Projects North Director and Civil Nuclear Director. Having started his career as a Project Engineer with Magnox Electric, Andy then moved into project management and successfully delivered large decommissioning projects at numerous sites around the UK, including Sellafield, AWE, Berkeley and LLWR. A proficient golfer, Andy also enjoys hiking in the Lake District. Mark ColesDefence DirectorMark has been with us since 2006 and has been a member of the NSG board since 2014, which includes being responsible for environmental, safety, health and quality matters. Since joining the company, Mark has been a major force behind our continued presence at AWE’s Aldermaston site. With a background in project delivery and management, Mark started his career with Alstec at British Energy stations before switching to AWE’s Cardiff and Aldermaston sites. Mark is a keen cyclist and his love of Formula 1 has seen him travel to numerous Grands Prix around the world. Gráinne CarpenterConsultancy Services DirectorGráinne joined our Consultancy Services team in 2013 in the role of Principal Consultant and headed up our office in Cheltenham. Originally focused on developing business in the South West, Gráinne took on a greater national outlook when she was appointed Head of Consultancy in 2015. Gráinne’s instrumental role in the successful expansion of our Consultancy Services division led to her appointment as Consultancy Services Director in August 2021. Originally hailing from Dublin, Gráinne has over 25 years’ experience in the nuclear industry and is the proud owner of cats and hens. Gareth WilsonCivil Nuclear DirectorGareth joined us in 2008 as a Project Engineer before transitioning to project management in 2015. He was appointed to the NSG board in 2022, having developed a strong reputation for his project and programme management skills, most notably for our customers at LLWR (NWS) and Magnox (NRS). A proud product of our longstanding personal development programme, Gareth is a former competitive bodybuilder who enjoys weight training, dog walks and sailing in his spare time.
